Traninggypt and Italy have signed a major set of cooperation agreements to build 89 new applied technology schools, a move hailed by both governments as a transformative step for Egypt’s technical and vocational education sector. The signing ceremony in Cairo was witnessed by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, alongside several Egyptian ministers and Italian Education Minister Giuseppe Valditara.

According to official statements, the protocols were concluded between Egypt’s Ministry of Education and a wide network of national institutions—including the ministries of agriculture, water resources, public enterprises, major state holding companies, and leading industrial partners such as the Arab Organization for Industrialization, Ezz Steel, Bee Well, the Future Sustainable Development Authority, and El Sewedy Technical Academy.

Italy’s contribution brings in specialised training bodies such as the Ingem San Paolo Foundation, ITS Agro Academy, Danieli Foundation, and several high-profile institutes in pharmaceutical, life sciences, sustainability, and industrial technology.

Education Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif said the initiative represents a significant expansion of Egypt’s applied-technology school model, aimed at providing students with globally competitive technical skills directly aligned with labour market demands. He praised Italy’s strong tradition in vocational excellence and long-standing collaboration with Egypt.

Prime Minister Madbouly affirmed that technical education is central to Egypt’s development agenda under President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, stressing that the new schools will help prepare a highly skilled workforce capable of supporting the country’s industrial, agricultural and technological ambitions. He added that this large-scale partnership marks the beginning of a broader phase of joint educational and training initiatives between Cairo and Rome.
