Jet2 to Launch First-Ever Direct Flights to Egypt with 14 Weekly Routes by 2027

Must read

British carrier Jet2.com has announced it will begin operating direct flights to Egypt for the first time, unveiling a schedule of up to 14 weekly flights to Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada starting February 2027. The move marks a major expansion for the airline and a significant boost for Egypt’s efforts to attract more visitors from the UK—one of its most important tourism markets.

According to Egypt’s Cabinet, Jet2’s inaugural year will offer around 169,000 seats, with further growth planned as part of a long-term partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. The schedule allocates seven flights per week to each Red Sea destination, departing from Birmingham, Manchester, London Stansted, and two Scottish airports—Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The announcement follows high-level discussions between Tourism Minister Sherif Fathy and Jet2 Group CEO Steve Heapy during the World Travel Market 2025 in London, where both sides explored deeper cooperation in air connectivity and tourism promotion. Fathy described Jet2’s entry into the Egyptian market as an important milestone that underscores growing confidence in Egypt as a safe, diverse, and year-round holiday destination.

The Egyptian Tourism Authority confirmed that the agreement will also extend to joint marketing campaigns aimed at strengthening Egypt’s visibility in the UK. Jet2, now Britain’s third-largest airline by passenger numbers, is expected to play a major role in expanding British demand for Red Sea resorts, especially as tourism levels continue to recover and surpass pre-pandemic benchmarks.
