The expanded programs include captivating destinations like Al-Gara Cave and the serene Umm Al-Sughair Oasis, nestled within Egypt’s expansive Western Desert. These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to diversify the nation’s tourism portfolio by promoting non-traditional tourism products.
Responding to the growing demand, the Ministry has resumed one-day excursions to the enchanting Siwa Oasis and surrounding areas such as Tebghagh, Al-Arag, and Bir Wahid. Assistant Minister for Tourism Companies, Samia Sami, emphasized that these developments have been achieved through meticulous coordination with tourism stakeholders and authorities.
Highlighting the success of these efforts, Sami disclosed that during the first half of 2025, 80 tourism companies organized 300 desert excursions, delighting over 20,000 tourists from diverse nationalities. The ministry has also introduced a variety of unique activities to enrich the visitor experience, including camel trekking, paramotor flights over the iconic White Desert, birdwatching, and guided hikes through the captivating desert landscapes.
“The ministry is committed to ensuring the highest standards of service quality and safety across all desert tourism routes,” stated Sami. “We work closely with partner entities to guarantee that every trip is conducted safely while providing travelers with unforgettable experiences.”
The Ministry’s ongoing efforts involve evaluating proposals from tour operators, addressing logistical challenges, and maintaining collaboration with local authorities to ensure the project’s long-term success.
