Emirates Airbus 380 has made lately a spectacular show with Jetman Dubai pilots using jet wings installed on their backs. This untraditional show highlighted the development of the aircraft industry. The aerial showcase took place above the famous Palm Jumeirah, Burj Khalifa and Dubai’s skyline.
The air show, which has been meticulously planned (with an intense focus on safety) and carefully choreographed, involved flying the world’s largest passenger plane on an altitude of 4,000 feet in two holding patterns. The Air jet pilots, who wore a jet propelled mechanical wings installed on their backs then joined the A380 aircraft. The Air jet pilots started their trip beside the Airbus A380 while was hovering above an altitude of 5,500 and they performed formations on both sides of the plane, then joined together on one side of the plane before breaking away.
Adel Al Redha, executive vice president and chief operations officer for Emirates, emphasised that prior to this trip, a comprehensive collabouration with all relevant regulators occurred. The coordination was mainly among the Public Civil Aviation in united Arab Emiraties, the Dubai Civil Aviation, Air Traffic Control in Dubai, Sky Dive Dubai, Airovegn, as well as several departments at Emirates were involved in the planning and execution stages of the flight formations to ensure its success.
The Airbus A380 weighs 350 tons (note that the maximum weight allowed for this plane is 575 tons). As the largest passenger plane in the world, it forms a wind swirls that may arise from the giant engines that could of great risk for the jet pilots during their flight. To mitigate the risk, the positions of the two jet men were selected very carefully during the show to avoid air swirls engines for Airbus regions A380.
During the planning stages of the trip, Emirates made sure of the availability of suitable reference points for both jet men to safely reach their identified points. It was emphasized that the benchmarks set out in the flight simulator, and in parallel with the provision of practical exercises using actual A380 in the geometric centre of the Emirates Airbus aircraft. These measures have helped to ensure the success of the adventure. To ensure the accuracy of this joint presentation between the airline and jet pilots, a team of pilots, and managers of air operations as well as air traffic controllers in the Emirates participated in the most accurate details, taking into account several factors such as motion air, areas of air traffic dense, possible wind and weather condition.
Emirates is the largest operator in the world of the Airbus double decker A380 with a fleet of 67 aircrafts of this model and a further 73 on order. With the Airbus A380 aircraft as a crown jewel of the fleet, Emirates, has carved new excellence standards in the aviation industry, thanks to its operational efficiency, ultra-modern technology and low acoustic and fuel-efficient design.
