Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company Pilot Sameh el Hefny expressed his pride for choosing EgyptAir to be the official carrier for guests of Egypt at the opening of the New Suez Canal ceremony. The national company has decided to offer a 25% discount for guests participating in the ceremony on all international flights in addition to providing all the necessary facilities on board EgyptAir flights and at departure and arrival halls designated to receive foreign and Arab delegations participating in the event. He expressed full readiness of the company to iron out obstacles and offer all facilities to the Suez Canal Authority facilities upon the directives of the Minister of Civil Aviation.
Affiliating EgyptAir companies are ready to receive such great event and to have it come out in a way that is honourable to Egypt and the Egyptians, he said. A high-level group from EgyptAir is working within the committee formed by the Minister of Civil Aviation and assigned for preparations of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and its subsidiaries as regards the opening of the new Suez Canal ceremony. The Airlines Company has coordinated with EgyptAir Express to review the operation of international and regional flights during the month of August to accommodate any increase in the number of participants at the opening ceremony. The coordination included drawing up alternative plans, the possibility of launching extra flights to some international destinations as well as enlarging models on some lines if requested, he added.
Trained groups of public relations, the station and security have been provided at the lounges to swiftly welcome delegations and end their travel procedures upon arrival at the airport in coordination with other concerned authorities. They are all well aware of the timetables of flights and the accommodations and contact information of all visitors.
EgyptAir Tourism Company (Karnak) and the Duty Free Shops offer a 20% discount on tourist programmes organised by the company for guests wishing to use a tourist programme to enjoy Egypt’s tourist attractions from August 1 till 15. The company also provides an up to 15% discount on goods and exhibits at Duty Free Shops in all outlets at Cairo International Airport and other Egyptian airports as well as those outside airports in El Gouna, Marina, Porto Ghaleb, Citystars in Nasr City in Cairo and in Soho area in Sharm El Sheikh.
EgyptAir Maintenance Company has increased necessary maintenance works for airplanes to ensure the flow of flights under the expected intensive operation. On the other hand, EgyptAir Company for Ground Services has provided the airport with its latest equipment, including aircraft ladders, vehicles of passenger and cargo for the runway and other ground equipment for serving airplanes and passengers. This also includes the swift handling of luggage belts to ensure quick services in terms of receiving and loading luggage during arrival and departure.
In addition to the preparations carried out by the EgyptAir Air Services as regards supplying aircraft of EgyptAir and other airlines carrying delegations participating in the opening ceremony, the company will offered necessary food and beverages and provide all airport lounges with necessary and sufficient supplies. Board Chairman of Cairo Airport Pilot Ahmed Geneina announced the completion of more than 90% of the renovation and development works of the airport runway. It will be finalized within the coming few hours to coincide with the start of receiving Egypt’s guests for the opening of the New Suez Canal project this week.
As for preparations at Cairo International Airport, Geneina said the airport was preparing to receive guests from 102 countries. Egypt’s flag will also be raised on all buildings in lengths up to 40 meters. The flags of Egypt and the Suez Canal will be flying in all parts of the airport so that they would be the first thing to be seen by the visitors and the last thing to stick to their minds before leaving Egypt. The airport’s fences were also renovated and the flags of Egypt and the Suez Canal are placed everywhere. Head caps and badges with the logo of the Suez Canal will be worn by workers at the airport on the opening day, he said, adding that the flags of Egypt will be distributed to all arriving and departing passengers on August 6. The logo will also be stuck on vehicles at the runway and vehicles transporting guests at the airport.
