Netflix has acquired InterPositive, an artificial-intelligence startup founded by actor and filmmaker Ben Affleck, as part of efforts to integrate advanced digital tools into its global film production ecosystem.
The company develops AI technologies designed to support filmmakers during production and post-production, including tools that can enhance visual continuity, refine lighting, and assist in editing workflows. Netflix said the technology aims to improve efficiency while preserving the creative role of directors, writers and production teams.
As part of the transaction, Affleck will join Netflix as a senior adviser, while the InterPositive team will be integrated into the streaming platform’s technology and production divisions. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Industry analysts view the move as part of a broader shift across the entertainment sector toward incorporating artificial intelligence into content creation, enabling studios to streamline complex production processes while expanding creative possibilities for filmmakers.
