Must read

Panasonic has entered into a strategic partnership with Egypt’s NexGen, naming the company as its official distributor for smart home systems in the Egyptian market. The agreement aims to accelerate the spread of intelligent home technologies and support the shift toward safer, more efficient, and digitally enhanced living environments across the country.

Industry forecasts show that the Middle East’s smart home sector is on track to exceed $1.8 billion by 2027, fueled by strong demand for home security solutions, automated lighting, connected appliances, and advanced energy-management technologies. The market is expected to expand at an annual growth rate of more than 12%.

NexGen Chairperson Bahaa Sarsar described the partnership as a strategic milestone that enhances the company’s ability to meet the evolving expectations of Egyptian consumers. He noted that the collaboration will help accelerate the adoption of the KNX international standard, a unified protocol that allows smart home devices to communicate seamlessly. According to Sarsar, KNX-based systems can reduce energy consumption by 30–40% by optimizing lighting, climate control, and electrical loads based on real-time usage patterns.

Eiji Ito, Managing Director of Panasonic Electric Works Middle East & Africa, said Egypt is one of the region’s most promising and fast-developing markets, making it an ideal hub for expanding smart home solutions. He emphasized that NexGen was chosen for its strong technical capabilities and its expertise in developing advanced, standards-compliant smart home networks.

Ito added that Panasonic and NexGen will work together to build a scalable open-protocol KNX ecosystem, enabling future customization and supporting national initiatives aimed at improving energy efficiency. He said the systems can help reduce household and building operations costs by up to 35%, contributing to long-term sustainability goals.

The partnership reflects both companies’ commitment to widening the adoption of smart home technologies in Egypt and increasing public awareness of digital transformation in residential spaces. NexGen plans to roll out the full range of Panasonic smart home solutions through its authorized channels over the coming period.
