UAE Debuts QuantumConnect: A New Era in Secure Communications

Must read

The UAE has revealed QuantumConnect, a next-generation, hardware-based encryption platform co-developed by the Technology Innovation Institute (TII)—the applied research branch of the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC)—together with VentureOne and telecom conglomerate e&. This pioneering solution represents a leap forward in secure communications, embedding advanced quantum encryption directly into fibre infrastructure to deliver unparalleled protection.

At its core, QuantumConnect leverages Quantum Key Distribution (QKD)—TII’s proprietary technology—to safeguard data transport at the hardware level. Unlike traditional encryption methods, QKD transmits encryption keys as quantum particles, which cannot be copied or intercepted without detection. This ensures that secure key exchange remains unbreakable even against emerging quantum computer threats.

Developed within the UAE, QuantumConnect aligns with the country’s Cryptography Executive Regulation, ensuring compliance with national and industry-specific standards—including federal ICT laws governing healthcare.

According to Dr. Najwa Aaraj, CEO of TII, “QuantumConnect represents a significant milestone… delivering provable security guarantees rooted in the laws of physics… future-proofing critical infrastructure.”

VentureOne’s Acting CEO Reda Nidhakou added that their aim is for QuantumConnect to become an “industry standard,” citing e& as an ideal partner to scale the deployment. Esam Mahmoud of e& emphasized that this innovation addresses regional and global secure-communications challenges, reinforcing trust in digital networks.

QuantumConnect is built for scalability and seamless integration into existing fibre-based networks, making it especially suitable for key sectors like finance, healthcare, and government. Early live deployments have already shown marked improvements in data security and operational confidence.

Why QuantumConnect Matters

  • Future-Proof Security: Protects against both present and future quantum threats through fundamental physical principles.
  • Seamless Integration: Works with existing fibre infrastructure, minimizing deployment friction.
  • Local Innovation: Created and regulated in the UAE, supporting national digital sovereignty.
  • Cross-Sector Applicability: Tailored for highly regulated industries requiring the most stringent data protection.

The UAE’s launch of QuantumConnect positions it at the forefront of quantum-secure communication innovation—delivering infrastructure-level, physically safeguarded encryption in anticipation of quantum-era risks.
