Google is piloting an AI-powered version of its Google Finance platform, offering real-time stock, cryptocurrency, and market news alongside advanced charting tools. The upgrade allows users to ask natural language questions — such as “What’s the outlook for Tesla stock this quarter?” — and receive detailed, AI-generated answers with links to relevant sources.
The revamped finance page, now in limited testing at Google.com/finance, features three core tools: Research, Charting, and Real-Time Data & News. Users can visualize markets using technical indicators like moving average envelopes or candlestick charts, a step analysts say could attract traders who currently rely on platforms like Bloomberg Terminal or TradingView.
“Google is positioning itself as a one-stop shop for retail investors and finance enthusiasts,” says Dana Mitchell, a tech equity analyst at MarketScope. “If this scales globally, it could disrupt the online finance data market.”
Sources familiar with the rollout told The Business Ledger that the company has already been quietly testing the feature with select users in the U.S. and India, targeting markets with high retail trading activity. A wider launch is expected in the coming weeks.
The move aligns with a broader trend of AI-driven financial services, with rivals like Microsoft integrating ChatGPT into Bing Finance and Yahoo exploring AI-assisted portfolio tools.
