Dakar — Egyptian Fencing Federation delegation received a formal reception from Egypt’s Ambassador to Senegal, Ambassador Khaled Aref, who hosted the national fencing team at an iftar banquet celebrating their dominant performance at the African Fencing Championships for juniors and youth.

The Egyptian team delivered a commanding display at the continental tournament held in Senegal from February 16 to 21, securing a total of 42 medals — including 22 gold, 9 silver, and 11 bronze — to top the overall standings across under-20, under-17, and under-15 categories.

Egypt’s athletes excelled in both team and individual events, capturing gold medals in épée, sabre, and foil across multiple age groups. The under-20 and under-17 teams collectively secured a series of first-place finishes, while standout individual performances further reinforced Egypt’s dominance on the African stage.

During the reception, Ambassador Aref commended the delegation’s discipline, competitive spirit, and professional conduct throughout the championship, emphasizing that the achievement reflects structured planning and sustained development within Egypt’s fencing system. He also praised the leadership of Ahmed Samir El-Maidani, Vice President of the Federation and head of the delegation.

Captain Tarek El-Hosseiny, President of the Federation, described the results as confirmation of Egypt’s continued supremacy in African fencing and the successful progression of emerging generations capable of competing at global levels.

The championship outcome underscores Egypt’s strong pipeline of young talent and reinforces its position as a leading force in continental fencing across all age divisions.
