Apple amassed over $10 billion in commissions from app downloads on the U.S. App Store over the past year. This marks a significant increase, doubling the $4.76 billion collected in 2020, as reported by Appfigures.
The data highlights that app developers earned a hefty $33.68 billion from app and game sales through Apple’s platform last year, retaining $23.57 billion after Apple’s cut. Interestingly, Apple seldom breaks down App Store revenues in its financial disclosures.
A separate report from Apple in May 2023 cited global App Store revenue at $104 billion for 2022. However, Appfigures’ analysis suggests a different figure, estimating global revenue at $61.5 billion, which increased to $91.3 billion last year.
