Cairo, Egypt, The Egyptian company Petrojet has inked a significant $100 million contract with Russia’s Atomstroyexport, the general contractor for the El-Dabaa nuclear project. This collaboration was confirmed through a statement issued by Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.
The terms of the deal encompass crucial protection works for 4.2 kilometers of seashores around the Dabaa plant. This includes extensive earthworks involving the movement of 2 million cubic meters of earth. Additionally, Petrojet will be responsible for supplying and installing over 800,000 cubic meters of rocks, as well as manufacturing and placing more than 91,000 concrete breakwaters.
This contract marks a substantial step forward in the progress of the El-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant (NPP). As per the latest updates, the implementation of the project is anticipated to reach 30% completion by the end of the current year. This milestone highlights the ongoing commitment and progress towards enhancing Egypt’s energy infrastructure.
The Egyptian government has ambitious plans for the El-Dabaa NPP, with aims to commence the trial operation of the plant’s first reactor by the second half of 2027. This marks a pivotal phase in Egypt’s journey towards establishing a robust nuclear energy sector.
