In an unprecedented alliance, INTRO Investments Holding, a prominent Egyptian conglomerate established in 1980, and Data Park, Oman’s leading data center and cloud service provider, have announced a landmark partnership. This strategic collaboration aims to deliver cutting-edge cloud solutions, Internet of Things (IoT), and digital transformation services to Africa and the Middle East.
Spanning an impressive 80,000 square metres, the Kemet Data Centre will be constructed in two phases to cater to the needs of large enterprises seeking state-of-the-art, cost-effective cloud data solutions. Featuring dynamic scalability and enhanced data processing speeds, the facility promises to redefine the region’s digital landscape. Notably, the data center will integrate sustainable technologies, including solar energy systems, to minimize its carbon footprint while ensuring superior digital services.
INTRO Technology’s subsidiary, Advansys, will manage the data center’s specialized staff and oversee the project’s execution. Leveraging its Centre of Excellence, Advansys will handle all project aspects, from legal procedures and hardware importation to design, ensuring a seamless launch.
Walid Gamal El-Din, chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), emphasized the importance of data center projects in meeting the growing demand for cloud services, IoT, and digital transformation. “Kemet Data Centre will pioneer the localization of vital service industries within the SCZone, strategically positioned along the Suez Canal, which hosts a significant portion of the region’s undersea communications cables. This is expected to significantly boost foreign investments,” he said.
Mamdouh Abbas, founder and chairman of INTRO Investments Holding, remarked, “This partnership is a pivotal step in our strategic journey to expand technology projects in the Middle East and Africa. By collaborating with Oman Data Park, we combine our cloud expertise with their proven success in data center services. Kemet Data Centre will play a crucial role in Egypt’s digital transformation, aligning with the nation’s Vision 2030.”
Echoing these sentiments, Maqbool Al Wahaibi, CEO of Oman Data Park, stated, “We are thrilled to partner with INTRO Technology to establish Kemet Data Centre, strengthening our presence in the region. This joint investment will drive growth and innovation, supporting economic development in the Middle East.”
Oman Data Park will offer extensive commercial services, including design oversight, construction consulting, and operational management. With a robust track record, Oman Data Park is dedicated to developing advanced facilities that enhance strategic partnerships and support the region’s digital transformation.
According to a report by MarketsandMarkets, the global cloud computing market size is expected to grow from USD 371.4 billion in 2020 to USD 832.1 billion by 2025, at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 17.5% during the forecast period. This underscores the critical timing and potential impact of the Kemet Data Centre project on the regional market.
As global enterprises increasingly seek secure, scalable, and cost-effective data storage solutions, Egypt’s strategic location and robust infrastructure offer an efficient platform for regional and international operations. The Kemet Data Centre stands poised to transform the digital services landscape, fostering economic development and technological innovation across Africa and the Middle East.
