Must read

In a significant development for Egypt’s telecommunications sector, **e& Egypt** has announced a groundbreaking agreement with the **National Company for Telecommunication Services (NCTS)**, which operates under the Ministry of Defense. This partnership aims to provide advanced telecommunications services to customers utilizing the “Tiba 1” satellite.

The agreement was formalized with the signatures of **Hossam El-Meadawy**, CEO of the institutional sector at e& Egypt, and **Samy Shedied**, chairman and managing director of NCTS.

NCTS is tasked with managing the commercial capacity of the Tiba 1 satellite. It holds the exclusive authorization from the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) to operate a satellite network within the Ka-band. This bandwidth enables licensed entities to offer satellite-based telecommunications services using the VSAT system. NCTS began providing its services to all entities in January.

The collaboration allows e& Egypt to leverage the commercial capacity of Tiba 1 to deliver a diverse array of advanced telecommunications services, specifically targeting remote regions where traditional telecom services are inadequate.

This service is poised to provide a competitive edge to several sectors in Egypt, including **petroleum, mining, and tourism**. Companies operating in remote locations, such as safari tour operators, will particularly benefit from enhanced connectivity.

The technical team at e& Egypt has carried out multiple tests to ensure the service’s quality and compliance with NTRA standards.

Moreover, the agreement boosts large-scale national projects like **”Mostakbal Masr-Ras El Hekma,”** ensuring telecommunications services are available until essential infrastructure and cell towers are established.

El-Meadawy expressed his optimism regarding the partnership: “This partnership will allow us to deliver innovative telecom solutions that contribute to developing Egypt’s telecommunications sector and provide coverage across all regions. We are proud to be the first company in Egypt to adopt this competitive technology.”

Formerly known as **Etisalat by e&**, e& Egypt was established in 2006 and is recognized as a trailblazer in the telecommunications and information technology sectors, demonstrating substantial growth in the Egyptian market.

According to industry insiders, this agreement is part of a broader strategic vision for Egypt’s digital transformation. The initiative aligns with the Egyptian government’s objectives to enhance digital infrastructure and expand internet accessibility across rural and underserved regions.

Further exclusive insights reveal that e& Egypt plans to expand its service offerings through the Tiba 1 satellite, including high-speed internet services, remote educational platforms, and telemedicine services. These initiatives aim to support the broader socio-economic development goals of the country.

The partnership between e& Egypt and NCTS marks a pivotal step towards revolutionizing Egypt’s telecommunications landscape. By providing advanced satellite-based services, this collaboration not only enhances connectivity in remote areas but also propels various sectors towards greater efficiency and competitiveness.
