In line with MOIC’s efforts to activate cooperation with Latin countries, the Minister of International Cooperation Dr Sahar Nasr received the Cuban Ambassador to Egypt Mr Laureano Rodriguez Castro on the 15th of March 2016.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister welcomed Mr Castro, emphasised the significance of incessant constructive dialogues and coordination between Egypt and its developmental partners in the international community in general, and its Latin friends in particular.
To fulfil the Egyptian Government’s increasing needs for development and achievement of social justice through building-up economic and technical cooperation between Egypt and strategic international community members.
The Minister indicated that the Egyptian Government was keen on supporting Egypt’s relations worldwide, especially with Cuba, within the framework of trilateral cooperation and South-South Cooperation (SSC) as an effective mechanism to enhance capacity building and develop human potentials. She also emphasised the importance of maintain good Egyptian-Cuban relations in various fields under the economic and technical cooperation agreement signed between both countries in 2003.
During the meeting, Mr Castro invited Dr Nasr to visit Cuba with a delegation of experts to exchange views on how to best offer their support to the bilateral cooperation and benefit from Cuba’s experience in fields of pharmaceuticals and vaccines.
In line with MOIC’s efforts to activate initiatives and agreements signed during President El-Sisi’s visit to Japan, the Minister of International Cooperation Dr Sahar Nasr received the Coordinator of the Egyptian- Japanese Education Partnership (EJEP) Dr Hani Helal.
The Minister emphasised that MOIC Is keen on securing necessary funds from Egypt’s development partners to develop education and benefit from Japan’s unique yet triumphed experience in this field.
During the meeting, Dr Helal commended MOIC’s role and gave a detailed account of EJEP, to which MOIC is a main member. He emphasised that EJEP aims to develop education in Egypt through two main basis, the first of which focuses on the development of basic education through delegating several Egyptian teachers and school managers to learn of Japan’s experiences in school administration and teaching methods. The second pillar is through increasing post-graduate studies for Egyptians at Japanese universities in various fields -or specialised training courses in scientific fields.
At the end of the meeting, the Minister emphasised her support of EJEP, which is considered an effectual priority for developing and modernising education. She also highlighted the significance of coordination between all relevant agencies, indicating that MOIC would overcome any obstacles that may hinder the implementation of EJEP’s approaches.
