Eng. Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, has announced the acceleration of digital transformation projects aimed at refining the local fuel trading system.
In a significant leap towards modernization, projects such as the automated warehouse measurement system (RTG) and comprehensive CCTV surveillance for all petroleum product movements are being fast-tracked. This effort is part of a broader strategy to mitigate any potential leakage, emphasizing the critical role these products play in the market, developmental plans, and daily life.
During the General Assembly for the Approval of the Egyptian Petroleum Company’s Business Results for the Fiscal Year 2023/2024, in the presence of Eng. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, Badawi highlighted the petroleum sector’s commitment to updating its operational framework. He emphasized improvements in attracting investments, maximizing economic returns, and enhancing services. The Minister lauded the company’s pivotal role in the Egyptian market, noting its continuous development in providing services through fueling stations for cars, aircraft, ships, and trains, as well as introducing natural gas services and other distinguished offerings at fueling and car service stations. He also underscored the importance of the safety staff’s efforts in updating protocols, increasing awareness, and fostering a culture of safe operation.
Eng. Mohamed Maged, Chairman of the company, elaborated on the achievements driven by the dedicated efforts of the company’s employees and optimal use of resources. The company reported total sales of 8.65 million tons and initiated a project to enhance the efficiency of all warehouses. Furthermore, the company has increased its warehouse count, developed 61 service and car supply stations, and added 11 new ones. The natural gas refueling service has now been extended to 194 stations for Misr Petroleum, with another 64 stations under development in collaboration with Gastec Company. The company’s portfolio also includes 20 train supply stations, 14 aircraft supply stations, and 3 ship supply stations, alongside 1,560 car supply and service stations.
Aligned with the Presidential initiative “Prepare for Green,” several projects have been launched. These include operating service and supply stations with solar power, introducing electric vehicle charging services at multiple stations, converting transportation units to natural gas, and expanding the storage, trading, and marketing of diesel and low-sulfur diesel products. The company is also advancing its sustainability strategy and improving energy efficiency, aiming to optimize energy use while raising worker awareness about energy-saving procedures and equipment. Additionally, Egypt Petroleum remains committed to meeting all occupational safety, health, and environmental protection requirements.
The meeting was attended by notable figures in the industry, including Eng. Salah El-Din Abdel Karim, CEO of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation, and his deputies for financial and economic affairs, Accountant Amal Tantawy, chemical refining, Mohamed Ali, transportation and distribution, Eng.
