Must read

In an exciting development within the world of football, Egyptian businessman Amir Garranah has successfully acquired a 90% stake in Spanish football club CF Badalona through his company, M2A Sports Management. This acquisition marks a significant milestone for Garranah, who has long dreamed of owning a football club.

Garranah expressed his immense pride and excitement over the achievement. “I am absolutely thrilled to share with you all that after 10 years of hard work, dedication, and unwavering passion towards sports, I have officially acquired CF BADALONA with M2A Sports Management,” Garranah said. He emphasized that this accomplishment has been a long time in the making and expressed his gratitude to everyone who supported him throughout the journey.

I can’t wait to dive into this new adventure, working tirelessly with my brothers Marc Serra Sallent & Michel de Voronine to bring success to the club and the city of Badalona,” he added, hinting at the collaborative effort behind this new chapter.

CF Badalona, founded in 1903, is located in Badalona City, the third largest city in Catalonia. The club competes in Group 5 of the Tercera Federación, the fifth tier of the Spanish football league system. They play their home games at Estadi Municipal de Badalona, which has a seating capacity of 4,170.

Last season, CF Badalona finished fourth in the Catalonia group (Group 5), earning a spot in the promotion playoffs. However, they narrowly missed out on promotion after losing in the final against L’Hospitalet. The league system features 18 regional groups, with the top four teams in each group qualifying for the promotion playoffs. The winner of the playoff then plays one final game on the national stage to decide the promoted team.

Despite never having played in La Liga, CF Badalona has a rich history, including 14 seasons in the Segunda División, with their last appearance in 1968. The club has also reached the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey four times. In 2020, they made a memorable run in the Copa del Rey, defeating Real Oviedo and La Liga side Getafe before narrowly losing 3-1 after extra-time to Granada in the round of 32.

With Garranah’s acquisition, the future looks promising for CF Badalona. He plans to leverage his extensive experience and network in sports management to elevate the club’s status and performance. The Egyptian businessman has hinted at potential investments in the club’s infrastructure and youth development programs, aiming to create a sustainable and competitive team.

In related news, several Spanish media outlets have reported that Garranah is already in talks with potential sponsors and partners to secure the financial stability of the club. Additionally, there are rumors of upcoming transfers that could strengthen the squad ahead of the new season.
