Hilton Cairo Zamalek had the honor to host Her Excellency Minister of Environment Dr. Yasmine Fouad, the youth-led initiative VeryNile, and the Zamalek Association in launching the initiative to ban single-use plastic bags from the island of Zamalek.
“We’re proud to be partnering with VeryNile and the Zamalek Association, under the auspices of the Ministry of Environment, to raise awareness of the harms caused by single-use plastic bags across Zamalek,” said Tarek Zaki, General Manager of Hilton Cairo Zamalek Residences. “Reducing landfill waste falls in line with our sustainability goals. As of December 2019, we were able to limit our landfill waste to under 35% of the total hotel waste, compared to over 65% of repurposed waste. Moreover, our hotel has eliminated the use of plastic straws, and is rolling out the elimination of single-use plastic bags. At Hilton Cairo Zamalek Residences, we strive to impactfully contribute to environmental preservation.”
