The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and Schneider Electric-Egypt and North East Africa— specialized in energy technology— have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish and equip an engineering laboratory in Borg Al-Arab Technology Park.
According to a statement released by The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology Yasser el-Kady witnessed the signing of the MoU.
The MoU is part of a strategic partnership plan between the two sides to train and qualify human calibers on the latest applications and technological solutions to improve the efficiency of work in the field of energy management and machine control.
This is in addition to transferring technological knowledge to Egyptian specialized calibers and supporting scientific research development in the field of energy technologies. The laboratory is a first step in the company’s future plans to be established in all technology parks in Egypt.
In this context, el-Kady said that his ministry is keen to establish strategic partnerships with major technology development companies to transfer knowledge, implant technology and stimulate creativity and entrepreneurship.
MCIT, he added, has an integrated strategy to co-operate with international and local companies in executing mega projects, aimed at integrating smart technologies to create and manage smart cities, technology parks and factories that use technology to raise efficiency and rationalize consumption.
Minister el-Kady ascertained that, such partnerships support the efforts of the sector in economic and social development, being an enabler of the national economy.
The MoU stipulates that Schneider Electric will equip an engineering laboratory by providing a 3D universal simulator for design of multi-axis motion machines, which will serve as a 3D simulation programme, a computer with its peripherals and a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC).
ITIDA will organise a training programme for university students in the innovation building at Borg Al-Arab Technology Park, the statement said.
The plant, the statement added, contributes to the development of engineering skills for specialists, entrepreneurs and students through the development of workshop machines and industrial production lines as one of the technological services provided by the company to its customers in the field of energy management, automated control systems and Internet technological solutions.
For her part, ITIDA’s CEO Asmaa Hosni said that the MoU is the beginning of a joint strategy and co-operation between ITIDA and Schneider Electric to train the Egyptian calibers on the latest technological applications and solutions in the field of energy management and machine control.
“It is an integral part of ITIDA action plans related to providing technological training and learning and assisting specialized engineers to learn about the latest technologies developed by major international companies,” Hosni said.
Schneider Electric Country President for Egypt, North East Africa and Levant Countries Walid Sheta, said that the Company aims to support the continuous efforts to develop and upgrade the efficiency of Egyptian engineers through continuous training and development of the latest technology.
He added that such cooperation will reflect on the Egyptian market to achieve a strong economic start, in which energy and ICTs play a pivotal role. “The Company is interested in investing in human resources, as one of Egypt’s key assets,” Sheta said.
Schneider Electric- Egypt and NEA Vice President for Governmental Affairs and Renewable Energy Sherif Abdel Fattah said that, the company believes that the professional training of specialized engineers improves performance in all engineering sectors, especially in engineering applications, based on the efficiency of energy management and safe use.
Abdel Fattah noted that the company, previously, co-operated with Ain Shams University, Helwan University and the Egyptian Engineers Syndicate to train the students of the Faculty of Engineering on energy management systems and open specialized labs in both the universities and the Syndicate.
