Oil Minister discusses work results of ETHYDCO and ELAB in 2016

Tarek Al Mulla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, announced that oil sector will keep on implementing the petrochemical projects for the best economic exploitation of Egypt’s resources of petroleum wealth, especially natural gas, in light of recent gas explorations. “The recent exploration is under development and will turn soon into production,” the minster pointed out.

The Minister’s statements came during the meeting of the General Assembly of Egyptian Ethylene & Derivatives Company (ETHYDCO) and Egyptian Linear Alkyl Benzene Company (E-LAB), to approve the work results in 2016. The meeting is attended by, first undersecretary of Oil Ministry, the heads of Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), The Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding Company (ECHEM) and Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) in addition to representatives of Accountability State Authority (ASA).

Engineer Ibrahim Abd Al Salam, Chairman of ELAB Company, reviewed the work results in 2016 during the meeting of general assembly. Engineer Ibrahim pointed out that, ELAB successfully achieved the production plan reaching its highest levels since the company was established in 2008, due to continuous cooperation with the associated oil companies in Alexandria, Amreya Petroleum Refining Company (APRC) and Alexandria National Refine & Petrochemical (ANRBEC) to supply its nutritional needs.

The company, Engineer Ibrahim added, launched successful advertising campaigns to promote its products and cover the local market needs. It also exported the surplus of the LAB product, the main raw material used in the production of industrial detergents, and the Heavy Alkyl Benzene by-product (HAP).  Engineer Abd Al Salam also previewed some future projects, including the installation of two units used for removing chlorides.
