Jordanian investments in Egypt total $512m

The ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Egypt said on Monday that Jordanian investments in the Egyptian market reached $512 million in 1,527 companies.

Ali Al Aayed added during his meeting with the Egyptian minister of industry and trade, Tarek Kabil, that these companies operate in the telecom, construction, agriculture, industry, and services sectors, according to a statement.

A number of Jordanian companies aim at raising their investments in Egypt in the upcoming period, the ambassador indicated.

Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Egypt increased to $4.3 billion during the first half of the current fiscal year, compared to $3.1 billion in the same period the year before, with a growth of 39%.

Egypt targets attracting investments of $10 billion per year to push growth rates to 5% and then to 7-8% within the next three years.
