Project: A milk collection centre located at the centre of a rural area should be equipped with cooling tanks designed to store and keep the milk at a proper temperature until it is transported to the supplier. The storage capacity of the centre should be 2 tons and it will be equipped with simple milk preserving machines and simple laboratory equipment in order to determine the fat content of milk, which is fundamental to setting the price of cow’s and buffalo’s milk.
Project Area: The area needed to start the project is nearly 175 meters (equivalent to one kirat).
Other Project Supplies: The project also needs a 1 to 0.5 ton cooling tank (a tank equipped with a cooling unit), a three-quarter-ton pick-up, a driver, one sales agent and four workers at the Center (Pending on volume of work) who can easily be labour based on daily compensation rather than a salary, which is easily acquired in rural areas. Project resources: The owners of farms in villages and those who collect milk from small farmers and stockbreeders.
Project Advantages: This kind of projects are rarely carried out today. Demand for milk is growing on daily basis, as milk production rate does not meet manufacturing needs of milk and dairy product companies. The project should generate a daily profit amounting to EGP 1000, as the price of 1 kilo of milk in rural areas does not exceed EGP.4.00 when collected from its source.
The milk will be delivered after concluding contracts with the milk and dairy factories at a price no less than EGP.5.00 – 5.50 per kilo, which also means that the more milk you collect on daily basis, the more profit you can generate. Increasing factories demand for milk minimizes effort needed for marketing.
