Egyptian parliamentary elections to the House of Representatives will take place next week. The elected parliament will be entrusted with the task of reviewing the laws that were passed while a parliament was not in session.

The parliament will be made up of 596 seats, with 448 seats elected through the individual candidacy system, 120 elected through winner-take-all party lists (with quotas for youth, women, Christians, and workers) and 28 selected by the president. Almost 16,000 officials will keep an eye on polling places during the election.

Elections will start on 17–18 October for Egyptian expatriates and 18–19 October for Egyptian residents. The second phase starts on 21–22 November for Egyptians abroad and 22–23 November for Egyptians in Egypt.

The runoffs for the first phase start on 26–27 October for Egyptians abroad and 27–28 October for Egyptians in Egypt. The governorates included in the first phase are: Giza, Fayoum, Beni Suef, Minya, Asyut, New Valley, Sohag, Qena, Luxor, Aswan, Red Sea, Alexandria,Beheira and Matruh. The runoffs for the second phase start on 30 November – 1 December for Egyptians abroad and 1–2 December for Egyptians in Egypt. The governorates included in the second phase are: Cairo, Qalyubia, Dakahlia, Monufia, Gharbia, Kafr el-Sheikh,Sharqia, Damietta, Port Said, Ismailia, Suez, North Sinai and South Sinai governorates
