MEED: Qatar’s Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has invited companies to prequalify for the contract to design and build ground and surface water demonstration facility in Doha.
Contractors have until 31 August to submit prequalification entries for the project.
The work will involve the design, build, operate and maintenance of ground and surface water
The project is part of Qatar’s efforts to study alternative water supplies to desalinated water.
MEED recently reported that Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) was seeking consultants to assist with the design and execution of groundwater production wells as part of the country’s efforts to improve water security.
Kahramaa has invited firms to submit bids by 20 August for the consultancy contract.
The work will involve providing consultancy services for the design and development of groundwater production wells, water towers and the installation of brackish water reverse osmosis (BWRO) units for emergency purposes.
Desalination accounts for more than 99 per cent of water supplies in Qatar, and so far in 2015, Kahramaa has awarded contracts as part of its Facility D independent water and power project (IWPP) and Ras Abu Fontas A3 scheme to boost the country’s desalination capacity.
