For the upgrade of its technology infrastructure to support future expansion plans in line with Dubai Smart City goals, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has received the best practice award by Cisco, a global leader in networking technologies.
DEWA’s migration of its Al-Qussais and Jebel Ali data centre network was commended by Cisco for best practice in design, implementation and in completing the migration reliably and securely, said a statement from the company. The utility worked closely with Cisco Advanced Services on the network migration, from project management and governance of design through implementation and quality checking. Cisco Advanced Services conducted an audit at the end of the project to certify the implementation, it said.
During a ceremony held at the authority’s head office in Dubai, the award was presented to Moza Al-Akraf, DEWA’s chief information officer, by Rabih Dabboussi, General Manager for Cisco in the UAE.
In line with Dubai’s vision to become the smartest city in the world, the network upgrades will support DEWA’s plan to raise production capacity, upgrade its infrastructure and implement smarter technologies to manage generation, transmission and distribution.
