Ali El Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), recently emphasized the “promising” investment opportunities available within Egypt’s pharmaceutical sector. The EDA is actively working to bolster local industry through programs aimed at localizing production and encouraging both domestic and international investments.
These remarks were made during a meeting with Marwan Fathallah, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Drug Information Association (DIA). The discussion centered on strengthening bilateral cooperation in various areas, with a particular focus on capacity-building, development, and advancements in pharmaceutical manufacturing and policy.
A key topic was the potential for capacity enhancement through specialized training programs. These programs will cover crucial areas such as pharmacovigilance (drug safety), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), and clinical studies.
This meeting coincided with the Drug Information Association (DIA) conference for the Middle East and North Africa, which Egypt hosted from November 26-27, 2024. The DIA aims to foster a collaborative environment where stakeholders can address the challenges facing the pharmaceutical industry’s future, develop realistic scenarios, and work together towards finding innovative solutions.
