Dr. Ghada Amer: ‘BETT Middle East’ Summit allows Arab educators for learning about the latest education methods around the world

Arab Foundation for Science and Technology participates in the second annual of International ‘BETT Middle East’ international summit from 25-26 April 2017 in Dusit Hotel – Abu Dhabi, in partnership with the organisers of ‘BETT Middle East’.
The summit attracts leaders of education from allover the world to discuss changes and developments of education in the Middle East. The summit is hosted generously by Abu Dhabi Education Council.
Dr Abdullah Abd Al Aziz Al Najjar, Chairman of Arab Foundation for Science and Technology, stated that the foundation participates in this international summit because it is interested in supporting the efforts and developing innovation and education in the Arab world.
Dr. Al Najjar added that Arab Foundation for Science and Technology works in accordance with the UAE Vision 2021, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, within the meeting of the ministerial cabinet in 2010. “The vision aims to place the UAE among the best countries in the world by its golden jubilee,” he clarified. In order to transform this vision into a tangible reality, the governmental work in UAE is based on six national pillars including education. It is considered the proper basis for the progress of UAE, as well as, placing it within the top ranks of great nations.
The summit coincides with the third stage of “Loghaty” initiative, launched by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, a member of Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah and Honorary Chairman of Arab Foundation for Science and Technology. The initiative aims to support education in Arabic language by smart technology for children and school students.
‘BETT Middle East’ attracts around 1,600 leaders and decision-makers, experts and actors in the field of education from 35 countries over the world, stated Dr. Ghada Mohamed Amer, Deputy Chairman of the Arab Foundation. She added that, participants discuss the challenges of the future and latest trends in education, as well as, developments in innovation. The summit also enhances the learning process, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). It is worth noting that, the summit comes within the UAE’s interest in education by launching initiatives that enhance the role of education.
In this context, Dr. Al Najjar demonstrated that developing education and scientific research, within the framework of national identity, is the right path to growth and progress. It pushes forward the countries without falling into dichotomy or double standard between catching up the global requirements and the national affiliation. This harmony, according to Dr. Al Najjar, makes the Arab region strong and able to build a bright civilization, a solid economy and an intellectual human being able to promote his society.
“We view experiments of nations, including Malaysia, Korea and Japan; all of which succeeded at making conformity between scientific advancement, economic renaissance and preservation of national identity”, Dr. Al Najjar added. He also referred to the fact that paying an attention to education without following a western culture is very important to change for the better. “In our Arab countries, we must take care of upcoming generations, and make them more confident with self capabilities and inherited merits,” concluded Dr. Al Najjar.
