Egypt emerged victorious at the Official African Traditional Karate Championship, held at the iconic Cairo International Stadium. The Egyptian national karate team clinched an impressive 67 medals, outpacing their closest competitors, Sudan and Congo, who secured 27 and 16 medals, respectively.
The championship, organized by the Egyptian Traditional Karate Federation (ETKF), brought together 150 elite karateka from 15 African nations, marking a significant event in the continent’s martial arts calendar. The tournament concluded on April 25, 2025, after several days of intense competition.
Minister of Youth and Sports, Ashraf Sobhi, who was present to witness some of the exhilarating matches, commended the seamless organization of the event. “Hosting the African championship in Egypt not only showcases our capabilities in organizing major sporting events but also strengthens our bonds with our African neighbors,” Sobhi remarked.
