The series “Aṣḥāb al-Arḍ” exposes Israeli occupation crimes and reveals Palestinian truths despite attempts by the Israeli army spokesperson to distort the facts. Lawmakers and politicians assert that the work demonstrates the strength of Egyptian drama as a tool for defending national and historical rights and identity.
During the 2026 Ramadan season, the series angered the Israeli army spokesperson, Captain Ella, who attempted to question the credibility of the work and accused it of fabricating facts. But reality is clear: the series reveals the true face of the occupation, documents Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people, and presents the Palestinian narrative with dramatic honesty that combines artistic strength with historical accuracy.
Lawmakers and politicians emphasized that the Israeli attack is proof of the series’ success in exposing lies and that the spokesperson’s attempt was an effort to manipulate the Palestinian issue through media. Egyptian art once again proves itself as an effective tool for defending truth and national identity.
MP Mohamed Ibrahim Moussa, a member of the Senate, said that “Aṣḥāb al-Arḍ” highlights the role of drama as a key instrument in promoting national identity and educating the public on important issues, noting that the series addresses the Palestinian issue from a perspective linking history with political and social realities.
Moussa added that such works help protect society from attempts at media falsification or misinformation by presenting facts in an engaging dramatic way that reaches all audience segments, especially the younger generation. He affirmed that “Aṣḥāb al-Arḍ” reflects Egypt’s firm stance in supporting the rights of the Palestinian people and contributes to raising awareness of national issues across the Arab and regional spheres.
He noted that national drama production is not merely entertainment but a strategic tool within Egypt’s soft power, capable of influencing Arab society and building a positive image of Egypt as a supporter of legitimate rights. Moussa praised the United Media Services Company for choosing works that balance artistic quality and societal message, considering “Aṣḥāb al-Arḍ” a model of purposeful drama.
Moussa emphasized the need for continued support from the state and society for drama that addresses national security and belonging, noting that investing in such productions is a cornerstone for building enlightened public awareness and enhancing the position of Egyptian drama as an influential soft power in the region.
MP Ihab Imam, member of the Parliamentary Tourism Committee, stated that “Aṣḥāb al-Arḍ” places the Palestinian cause at the forefront of the 2026 Ramadan drama season, expressing pride that the series reflects Egyptian drama’s commitment to addressing humanitarian and political issues in an appealing artistic manner.
Imam added that the series raises viewers’ awareness of Palestinian history and the dimensions of the conflict, affirming that drama today serves as an educational and cultural tool contributing to the formation of an informed Egyptian identity, resilient against misinformation attempts.
He explained that “Aṣḥāb al-Arḍ” delivers clear national messages, reinforces Egypt’s support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, and noted that national productions by the United Media Services Company have succeeded in providing content that combines artistic quality with societal messaging. He considered the series a continuation of this approach linking art with the national message.
Imam also said that such works help strengthen identity and belonging, educating the public on important national and regional issues, stressing the necessity of supporting purposeful and responsible drama. He considered investing in such works an investment in society and awareness, asserting that “Aṣḥāb al-Arḍ” will be a landmark during Ramadan for its clear and impactful national messages.
MP Soheir Karim, member of Parliament, condemned the attack by the Israeli army spokesperson on the series, stating that these remarks reflect a clear concern over any artistic work approaching the truth or presenting the Palestinian narrative to the Arab public.
She affirmed that targeting Egyptian drama is not incidental but part of repeated propaganda campaigns aimed at reversing facts and questioning national narratives, particularly when works highlight the suffering of the Palestinian people under occupation.
Karim added that claims of “falsifying events” ignore well-established historical facts, stressing that Egypt’s stance on the Palestinian issue is firm, and that under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the country acts according to national principles expressing a steadfast popular will rejecting the manipulation of the issue or circumventing the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
She concluded by emphasizing that attempts to undermine Egyptian drama will not deter creators from fulfilling their role, nor will they change Egypt’s support for Palestinian rights, but will rather strengthen people’s adherence to their just narrative and historical truth.
Dr. Mohamed Abu El-Ala, head of the Arab Nasserist Party, said that the statements by the Israeli army spokesperson are part of repeated attempts to spread rumors and distort facts before the Arab public.
He explained that targeting a national dramatic work reflects the occupation’s clear confusion, especially regarding works highlighting the Palestinian narrative and the people’s suffering under occupation, stressing that Egyptian art has always expressed the nation’s conscience and just causes.
Abu El-Ala noted that the military spokesperson’s allegations regarding current events ignore established historical facts, affirming that Egypt, led by Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, operates with clear principles reflecting the Egyptian people’s support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. He added that attacks on Egyptian drama will not succeed in erasing the facts.
He concluded by emphasizing that Egyptian national forces will continue supporting any artistic or cultural work that truthfully represents Arab causes, foremost among them the Palestinian issue, which is a matter of national liberation and a legitimate right that does not lapse.
Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud Mehran, professor of public international law and member of American, European, and Egyptian international law associations, responded firmly to the video posted by Captain Ella, stating that what the series presented is far less than the truth documented in United Nations reports, the International Court of Justice, the International Criminal Court, and international committees.
He explained that the military spokesperson’s claims that Israelis are the “owners of the land” starkly contradict reality, international law, and the rulings of the highest international courts.
Dr. Mehran noted that Captain Ella attempts to continue the legacy of Avichay Adraee in whitewashing the Israeli army’s image through propaganda aimed at the Arab public, and that her criticism of the series came after the massive global attention it received and its ongoing exposure of Israeli crimes. Israeli internal reactions confirm the series’ success in uncovering the truths Israel seeks to conceal.
He pointed out that the true owners of the land are those protected by international law, not those condemned by the highest international courts, and that settlers committing war crimes cannot be considered legitimate landowners. He called on Captain Ella to read the rulings of the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court before commenting on land ownership.
Mehran affirmed that the series accurately documented Israeli massacres, praising director Peter Mimi and the team of Egyptian stars including Menna Shalaby, Eyad Nassar, and Essam El-Sakka, describing the work as an exceptional artistic and historical achievement representing Egypt’s soft power in service of the Palestinian cause.
He emphasized that using art and drama to document facts has become an effective international tool to shape public awareness and expose violations, asserting that the fierce Israeli attack confirms the series’ success in revealing the truth, and calling for more Arab works documenting Palestinian realities and exposing the false Zionist narrative.
