The Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF), a cornerstone of cultural and cinematic celebration, has officially opened submissions for its much-anticipated 46th edition. Scheduled to take place from November 12 to 21, 2025, the festival invites filmmakers from around the globe to submit their works starting today, April 20, with the submission window closing on August 1. An early bird period, offering filmmakers a head start, is open until May 31.
Festival President and celebrated actor Hussein Fahmy expressed his excitement for the upcoming edition. “We are thrilled to announce the opening of submissions for the 46th Cairo International Film Festival. We eagerly anticipate receiving diverse films that showcase unique cinematic perspectives and embrace a multitude of cultures. Cinema is a universal language, connecting filmmakers and audiences in a dialogue of creativity and understanding,” Fahmy stated.
Artistic Director Mohamed Tarek highlighted that preparations for the festival are already in full swing. “We have started early to ensure this year’s edition stands out. Each year, the festival uncovers exceptional talents, fresh cinematic discoveries, and promising new voices from across the globe,” Tarek noted.
Since its inception in 1976, the Cairo International Film Festival has grown to be one of the most prestigious events in the Arab region and the African continent. It is proudly categorized as a Category A festival, being the only one in the Arab world and Africa recognized by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF).
