Must read

In a thrilling display of athletic prowess and strategic gameplay, the Zamalek Women’s Volleyball Team has claimed its third consecutive African title at the prestigious championship held in Nigeria from April 1 to 14. Cementing their dominance in African volleyball, the team emerged victorious against their fierce rivals, Al Ahli, with a decisive 3-1 win in the final showdown.

This latest victory marks Zamalek’s third African championship win in the club’s history, underscoring their sustained excellence on the continental stage. The triumph also echoes last year’s success, where Zamalek bested Al Ahli in a similarly intense final.

The final match was a showcase of skill and resilience. Zamalek started strong with a nail-biting 29-27 win in the opening set. Although Al Ahli responded by taking the second set 22-25, Zamalek regained control and clinched the final sets 25-20 and 25-22. This hard-fought victory followed their semi-final win against Kenya’s Pipeline, while Al Ahli booked their final spot by defeating Tunisia’s Carthage.

Zamalek’s winning squad included standout players such as Mary Metwally and Milica Lobiska da Silva, with pivotal contributions from Nora Azmi and Dalia Al-Mushridi. The team’s success can be attributed to the strategic acumen of head coach Ahmed Fathi and his coaching team, including Ikrami Structure and Bilal Tut, who meticulously planned the players’ conditioning and performance.

On the other side, Al Ahli’s roster featured talents like Aya Shami and Nada Walid, demonstrating strong competition throughout the tournament.

Sports analyst Dr. Omar Khaled praised Zamalek’s achievement, saying, “Zamalek’s continued success is a testament to their robust training regimen and the leadership of their coaching staff. Their ability to perform under pressure and adapt to opponents’ strategies is remarkable.”

pts Zamalek basks in the glory of their win, the focus now shifts to preparing for future challenges and maintaining their top position in African volleyball. The club’s commitment to nurturing talent and fostering teamwork will be crucial in defending their title in upcoming seasons.
