Egypt Unveils “Egypt Timeless” as Paris Guest of Honor

Must read

Egypt has launched “Egypt Timeless: At the Heart of Paris,” a cultural showcase at Place du Louvre, marking Egypt’s designation as Guest of Honor in Paris’s 2026 cultural programme. The event was organised in coordination with the City of Paris and the Embassy of Egypt in Paris, and attended by diplomats and prominent figures from France’s cultural and artistic circles.

Speaking at the opening, Tarek Dahroug, Egypt’s ambassador to France, said the showcase reflects the depth of Egyptian-French cultural relations, shaped over centuries through exchanges in knowledge, art, and scholarship. He noted that Egypt’s Guest of Honor status highlights both shared heritage and an evolving contemporary dialogue between the two countries.

A central feature of the exhibition is Mirror Gate II, produced by Egyptian company Marmonil and installed in Louvre Square after a previous display near the Pyramids of Giza. Dahroug said the installation symbolically connects Cairo and Paris, as well as their historic landmarks, using monumental form and materials rooted in Egyptian heritage.

The ambassador added that the programme will continue in mid-February with a second phase titled “The Mystery of Egypt,” featuring photographic works by Egyptian artists focusing on everyday life in Egypt. The next phase aims to broaden the presence of contemporary Egyptian culture in the French capital, complementing the country’s ancient legacy with modern artistic expression.
