Adieu to a Prince who will continue to inspire and guide us

Must read

Ahmed Fouda: Prince Saud Al-Faisal, a veteran Arab and international diplomat left our world to a better one last week.

Prince Saud Al-Faisal, ex-Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs headed  Saudi diplomacy operations for around 40 years, the late prince was a shrewd, and wise politician who served not only Saudi interests but the interests of the whole Arab and Muslim World.

We remember Prince Saud Al-Faisal as an Arab and international tough politician, whose presence whether in the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or in the League of Arab States, or in the United Nations Committees was always reassuring for us– as Arabs.

The late prince was a man of peace, who graduated from the prestigous Princeton University with a degree in economics.  He was known for his courage when it came to speaking the truth regarding peace with Israel; highlighting that a peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue is the only route available for Israel to improve its ties with its neighbours.  His reputation as a shrewd politician always preceded him as he occuppied some of the most critical positions. Prince Saud Al-Faisal will always be remembered as the prince whose intelligence, perception, and political expertise helped him remain in the spotlight for a period of time that few others manage to maintain.

Around here we will always remember prince Saud Al-Faisal’s wisdom when it came to initiating political maneuvers and taking the right decisions at the most appropriate time. In the world of politics, the late Saudi prince managed to twinkle in most of the conferences and summits, and his presence was always an asset to any major  international gathering.

The loss of  Prince Saud Al-Faisal undoubtedly casts a shadow of gloominess that engulfed  the region, nevertheless, I trust that the star who left our world, will continue to shine from above and will twinkle and his legacy will continue to guide and inspire us.
