The Egyptian Fertilizers Production Company (Mobco) has become the first Egyptian firm to secure the Arab world’s Sustainability Excellence Award, marking a significant milestone in the industry. The accolade was announced during the 37th Technical Conference and Exhibition for the Fertilizer Industry, held from September 16 to 18 at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Ben Guerir, Morocco, under the theme “Emerging Technologies in the Fertilizer Industry: Balancing Productivity and Environmental Responsibility.”
The annual gathering, regarded as one of the sector’s most prominent international platforms, brought together leading Arab and international producers, research centres, technology developers, and policymakers. This year’s event was chaired by Eng. Ibrahim Mekki, Chairman of the Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding Company (ECHEM), alongside Eng. Ahmed Mahmoud, Chairman and Managing Director of Mobco, who led the company’s delegation.
The conference examined global trends in fertilizer production—from raw material sourcing and process innovation to the integration of smart solutions and sustainable technologies. Against this backdrop, the Arab Fertilizer Association presented Mobco with the 2025 Sustainability Excellence Award following an independent evaluation by international experts on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria.
Receiving the award on behalf of Mobco, Eng. Ahmed Mahmoud El-Sayed hailed the achievement as an unprecedented recognition for an Egyptian company in the Arab world. The honour reflects years of investment in energy efficiency, emissions reduction, resource reuse, and community partnerships. These initiatives align with the directives of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Eng. Karim Badawi and Egypt’s Vision 2030 strategy.
Mobco’s sustainability framework is designed not only to reduce industrial impact but also to foster inclusive development in surrounding communities. By supporting social solidarity and quality of life programmes, the company has positioned itself as a regional model for embedding sustainability within industrial operations.
Commenting on the award, Eng. Mahmoud reaffirmed Mobco’s commitment to advancing clean production systems and strengthening its contribution to the green economy. He underscored that the company’s future strategy will continue to balance industrial growth with environmental stewardship, in line with both national policy priorities and global sustainability trends.
