MOPCO Secures Strategic Land Victory, Reinforcing Its Economic Pillar Role

Must read

In a pivotal decision underscoring the Egyptian government’s support for key industrial sectors, the Ministerial Committee for Investment Dispute Resolution has ruled decisively in favor of the Misr Fertilizers Production Company (MOPCO). This ruling grants MOPCO ownership of a 150,000-square-meter parcel in the Rehab Industrial Zone of New Damietta City, concluding extensive negotiations with both the New Urban Communities Authority and the New Damietta Development Authority.

The official decree, sanctioned by the Cabinet on June 4, 2025, mandates the New Urban Communities Authority to reverse its previous decision to annul the land allocation, which had been designated as plot 1/A in the East Navigation Canal area. This resolution not only reaffirms MOPCO’s integral role in Egypt’s economy but also underscores the state’s acknowledgment of the company’s capacity to enhance the gross domestic product and attract vital investments.

MOPCO’s strategic position is further underscored by its recent recognition as the 12th top company among Egypt’s fifty leading enterprises, according to Forbes Middle East. This accolade highlights the company’s robust economic performance and leadership within the industrial sector, solidifying its status as one of the largest industrial entities in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The Egyptian government’s decision reflects a broader commitment to fostering industrial investment and enabling significant companies like MOPCO to thrive and expand. Such actions are crucial for reinforcing the national economy by facilitating the development of projects that enhance production capabilities and contribute to foreign currency inflows.

This outcome not only marks a victory for MOPCO but also represents a strategic advancement in Egypt’s industrial landscape, signaling continued state support for initiatives that drive economic growth and innovation. As MOPCO prepares to embark on new ventures utilizing this land, its role in shaping Egypt’s economic future is set to become even more pronounced
