In a recent meeting with the leadership of the Engineering Company for Petroleum and Chemical Industries (ENPPI), Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Eng. Karim Badawi, emphasized the critical importance of collaboration and teamwork to enhance the petroleum sector’s role in bolstering the national economy. By leveraging the capabilities and expertise of Egyptian petroleum companies and forming alliances with international firms, the sector aims to implement globally significant projects both within and beyond Egypt’s borders.
Eng. Karim Badawi lauded ENPPI for its stellar global reputation and its history of successful projects, highlighting its potential as a strategic engineering partner for major international initiatives. He encouraged collaboration with state institutions and relevant ministries to realize these goals, pledging the ministry’s full support to create new success stories that will benefit the national economy.
The minister outlined the six main axes of the ministry’s strategic plan, which ENPPI is well-positioned to execute. These include providing affordable petroleum products by enhancing research, exploration, and production activities with cutting-edge technology and close cooperation with state and international oil companies. Additionally, maximizing the value from refining and petrochemical processes is a priority, alongside expanding the mining sector’s contribution to the GDP from 1% to 5-6%.
Furthermore, Badawi stressed the importance of restructuring Egypt’s energy mix to increase renewable energy’s share to 42% by 2030, utilizing natural gas for value-added industries, and producing hydrogen and green ammonia. Creating an attractive investment environment, prioritizing safety, environmental preservation, energy efficiency, and emissions reduction are also key to drawing investments. Enhancing regional cooperation to establish Egypt as a regional energy hub is the final strategic axis.
ENPPI’s Chairman, Eng. Wael Lotfy, presented the company’s substantial contributions to projects within and outside Egypt, as well as a strategic plan to boost revenues by 2028. The company aims to expand its footprint through branches in the Gulf region, Africa, and offices in the United States, Italy, and Venezuela.
During the meeting, Minister Badawi engaged in open dialogue with the company’s leaders and employees, exchanging ideas to enhance the company’s performance. He emphasized adherence to health and safety procedures, the importance of specialized training, and community responsibility programs to achieve sustainable value.
Concluding the meeting, Eng. Karim Badawi expressed his gratitude to ENPPI’s leadership and workforce, encouraging them to continue their efforts in achieving new milestones for the company’s illustrious history.
