Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla has inspected the progress of work in the new interchange control center for the National Natural Gas Network in the Dahshur region.

It was equipped with a gas compressor station to work as an interchange center with the National Advanced Control Center (NATA) to boost development and expansion in Upper Egypt as well as ensure the safe operation of the national natural gas grid.

El Molla also inspected the progress of work on new expansion projects and the progress of work in the region.

During the tour, El Molla highlighted the importance of the expansion, development and modernization taking place in the Dahshur region in the gas compressor station project.

The station is one of the most important facilities in the national natural gas network and the main gateway to the energy artery of the South Valley, which works to secure and pump natural gas in the required quantities and pressures.

El Molla emphasized the crucial role of continuously developing the human element through regular training, improved efficiency, enhanced readiness of emergency teams, and increased awareness among working cadres. He underscored the importance of investing in people as a fundamental pillar for success.

Meanwhile, Yasser Salah, Chairman of the Egyptian Natural Gas Company (GASCO), explained the ability of the new interactive control center to accommodate new sites and prepare operational reports for the national grid through the interactive operating platform to accommodate all sites required to be monitored and controlled in the Upper Egypt region, starting from Dahshur.

Elaborating on the expansion project’s progress, Salah stated it aims to more than double the station’s capacity, raising natural gas supply to the South Valley region from 28 million cubic meters per day to 46.2 million cubic meters. This will address the growing gas demands in electricity, industry, commerce, households, and meet the needs of the Assiut National Oil Processing Company (ANOPC).
