Abu Qir Fertilizers Company (AFC) received the International Fertilizer Association (IFA)’s certificate of protection and sustainability in health, safety and environment (HSE) field last Wednesday during an international conference organised by IFA in Jordanian kingdom.
The chemist Saad Abu Al Maati, Chairman of AFC, the Arab Fertilizer Association (AFA) and a representative of Fertilizer Industry in African continent received, on the occasion of the certificate awarding, a message of congratulation from Dr Abd Al Rahman Jawahery, Head of IFA for Abu Al Maati’s outstanding efforts to promote the fertilizer industry in Egypt and Arab countries, in addition to providing the components which keep the fertilizer industry competitive and owning to the industry’s essential elements of quality. Furthermore, Jawahery appreciated Abu Al Maati’s distinguished efforts of leading the works of AFA professionally and efficiently.
Abu Al Maati clarified that IFA launched the sustainability and protection certificate in HSE field since 2007, including a commitment to 12 principles of HSE management.
IFA aims to make sure the members’ commitment to produce and use the fertilizers in a responsible and sustainable manner, without causing damage to the environment, for maintaining a healthy workplace to all employees, asserted Abu Al Maaty. AFC’S policy combines safety, security, health and environment issues together, taking into account international laws in this regard, he added.
Jawahery confirmed that AFC achieved a world excellence by obtaining a certificate of protection and sustainability. The company met the requirements of IFA concerning the use of fertilizers and intermediate products to be useful for everyone as well as reducing the potential risks to lower levels or avoiding them through taking the measures necessary for the product development in a responsible manner in terms of sources, manufacturing, storage, transportation and use.
Jawahery also praised Abu Al-Maati’s unprecedented professional efforts to put AFC on the local and regional stage in recognition of respectfulness which Abu Al Maati enjoys among the international community.
