Egypt Moves into Global Top 30 for Aviation Infrastructure with Airport Growth and Sustainability Wins

Must read

Egypt is sharpening its aviation strategy by combining fleet modernization with rising passenger traffic and sustainability achievements. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met Boeing Global President Brendan Nelson in New York during the UN General Assembly, highlighting six decades of cooperation and confirming EgyptAir’s plan to induct 18 Boeing 737-8s on lease, beginning January 2026. The deliveries are expected to expand medium-haul capacity and strengthen tourism connectivity.

Cairo International Airport posted robust August 2025 results, handling 2.87 million passengers—an 8% increase year-on-year—and 20,050 flights, reflecting both monthly and annual growth. At the same time, Cairo, Hurghada, and Borg El Arab airports earned sustainability awards from Airports Council International Africa, underscoring efforts to align operations with global environmental benchmarks.

Structural progress is also evident. Egypt advanced to 27th place worldwide in air-transport infrastructure in 2024, rising 36 spots since 2015 thanks to sustained capital investment in airports and safety systems. This trajectory, alongside diversified fleet orders and rising passenger flows, signals Egypt is positioning itself not just as a growing market, but as a regional aviation hub with improving infrastructure, greener operations, and stronger global partnerships.
