Conditions upon which travellers to Saudi Arabia are exempted from paying tariffs

Saudi Customs has set a number of conditions upon which a traveller to Saudi Arabia can be exempted from paying tariffs for his own personal belongings.

These conditions are as follows:

– A traveller to Saudi Arabia has to submit required official documents such as bills, necessary permits and a bill of lading, if any. A traveller’s personal belongings, including gifts, should not exceed SAR 3000 ($800).

– Personal belongings and gifts should be within a specified range.

– A traveller’s belongings should not include banned or restricted goods that do not comply with the Common Customs Law of the GCC States and the goods listed in the Saudi Customs online website.

– A traveller should not use his/her belongings in trading purposes.

It is to be noted that, Saudi Customs has announced the following required documents to exempt travellers from tariff:

A copy of the  passport, ID or residence permit, in addition to bills of purchase, if any, and a custom declaration.
